What Child?

But the Child that is born on the Sabbath Day,
Is witty and wise and good and gay

You see sunshine behind every cloud
And your smile can make clouds disappear

I would like to think so too but witty and wise? somehow I don't see myself definitely as someone wise LOL! Now 'good ' is something I keep trying to be.

Thank you for the link Sherry. I hope you all will have a go and let me know what you came up with.

Invaded by Chefs!!

Life has been busy so I have not found much time to write in my blog or visit or write in the groups. I am waiting for the 2nd to arrive when I will be a free woman. It is only a few days away and after that I promise to try and keep up.

This weekend we were invaded by chefs in the form of our nieces. They decided to give me a treat for my birthday. So they cooked a delicious meal for us. They did not allow us to go into the kitchen or the dining room the whole day. So here are some pictures to share with you all and tell you what a wonderful thoughtful gift for the day it was. The meal and the dessert was absolutely delicious. So I shall overlook their very small mistake with the cutlery placement LOL!

Last weekend was my doll club. I did a workshop on Jean Bernard's wings and did a workshop on a face. Perhaps because I was not feeling too well or I was just pure scatter brain I completely forgot to take my camera so I don't have any pictures to share of the class sigh! I have asked another lady to send me some pictures so it will have to wait till she sends it. The class went off well but we ran out of time so they couldn't finish the projects. I hope the ladies will finish their projects and show it next time.

Denia's quiz

A couple of weeks ago Denia
had a quiz on her blog. She uploaded a picture of a beautiful ring of her mum made with crystals and wanted us to guess as to, who we thought had made it. So I too had a guess at it. To my great surprise, I was the only one who had guessed the correct answer and was even more surprised that Denia had made a special bracelet as a prize! The correct answer was, her brother Benjamin! Today I received this beautiful bracelet made by Denia. It is really very beautiful. The picture does not do it justice. Denia I will treasure this bracelet always. Thank you very much for sending it to me

Last week was Denia's birthday so I wanted to give her a surprise birthday present. I couldn't show it to you but she has received it today so now I can show it to you all. Why the post just going across the channel takes so long my mind boggles! Here is what I made for her

Goodies from Ally Pally

Here is what I bought from Ally Pally. Velvet flowers and leaves. Some Dya na flow dyes. Barbara and Bett's new doll patterns. New in the market some dyes called Quick colours. They are right up my street as you only have to wet silk and dab these dyes on it and microwave to set it. No messing around which is what I like quick and easy. Then some natural silk hankies. They will be fun to dye. Then bits of dyed silk cocoons. A packet of trimmings . More silk laps and throwsters waste hand dyed. Some mulberry bark dyed and undyed. And oh Barbara was generous and threw in a packet of paperclay which will come handy this weekend when I do the workshop in my doll club. So there is plenty there to keep me occupied and my brains whirling through the winter.

Ally Pally

Well the day arrived and I started off at 9.30 am and as I walked towards the station I quickened my steps remembering there could be unforseen delays on weekends.
When I came to the station my fears were realised. The board read due to engineering works there are severe delays. From then on I was resigned to whatever was to come travel wise. The train arrived 10 mins after, which I thought not bad. I could make it to Ally Pally with still plenty of time. Then came the bad news. They annouced that the trains are being diverted so it will take over an hour to reach London. I thought well out goes my class I would never reach there on time. Got to Waterloo 1 hr and 20 mins late and qued for tickets, got on to plateform and qued to get into the tube. Got out of the tube and qued for the bus. Ofcourse with the mid term break for schools travelling took twice the amount of time. To cut a long story short I missed my class I missed seeing San and reached the exhibition all hot and bothered.
I made my way first to Barbara Bets and Patti's stand. As always they were there with their lovely smiles and hugs. Meeting them and chatting to them for a while calmed me a bit. Then I made my way to the doll exhibition. I was not disappointed. There are wonderful doll artists emerging from the UK and all the dolls were of very high standard. I met Ray Slater who arranged the doll exhibits. You might wonder where are the photos of the dolls. This is where I have to disappoint you. When I met Ray I said to her I was going to take some pics of the wonderful dolls and she said well some artists mind and some don't. Ofcourse since I was still recovering from my frustrating journey it did not sink into my mind immediately and I started clicking when half way through I realised perhaps I ought not to take pics someone will object so since I was already in the act of taking I clicked madly around and disappeared. The result was some didn't turn out well and the ones that did I am hesistant to put it on the net as I might get complaints. Most of the artists who had their dolls are not known to me. The only ones I am showing you are Ray's and the one which has a lion head is Treez's. I know these 2 ladies won't mind. So I am terribly sorry that I can't show rest of the pictures. But there are the lovely faces of Barbara Betts and Patti and their dolls. Sorry I am a lousy photographer especially when I had to push my camera through a crowd of people to take it.
So sorry I missed San. San there was a lady taking in French with her mother in law who passed me by and I stopped her and asked her if it was you she said no but she said there was another lady in the booth she just left who was French. Well it is like searching for a needle in a haystack in there so I didn't go on a wild goose chase. Perhaps next time we can meet.
I will show pics of the goodies I bought tomorrow as I have not had a chance to take any more pics today.

Can't say much

I have been busy with a project as well as getting sidetracked into various other chores. I can only show this to you for the moment.

I bought myself a couple of new toys so that I can play with them when I am free. One is a small tool to polish and engrave etc which I plan to try out on some gourds that friend was kind enough to send me. The other is some fancy eyelets.

I can't wait to use them.

I have been tagged

I've been 'tagged' by Linda Walsh of
Lindawalshoriginals Linda is a blogging friend of mine She is a very talented crafter who creates original dolls and crafts and loves to write about them in her blog. If you get a chance, please check out her blog!

The rules of the tag are that I'm supposed to list 5 weird things about myself or my pets. I then tag 5 friends and list them. These people write on their blogs, 5 weird things about themselves/pets and then tag 5 more people.

You should let these people know they've been tagged by posting a comment on their blog.

Well ok I am not sure if these things are weird or not but I will try and have a go as I have never done this sort of thing before.

1. As a child my ears were always tuned to my cat's meow so much so that even if I was very ill and heard him cry outside I would jump up in the middle of the night and run out to cuddle him.

2. In my house I have a craft room. Catch me working there? noooo I have to drag the machine to the bedroom and stitch or to the sitting room LOL!

3. My craft room is in a perpetual state of disarray. No one can find things there neither can I !

4. I can never sleep in the plane no matter how long the journey is.

5. Finally whew! my brain aches ouch after thinking so much LOL! While cooking I feel the need to wash my hands several times!!

OK now I have to tag 5 people so here goes

I tag Kai of alittlethreadalottaglue
I tag Isabelle of Kittycouture
I tag Flo/Denia of Kittymisty
I tag Judi ofArtdolls
I tag Isabella of Florida of adayinthelifeofisabella

Knitting and stitching show.

I am getting excited about this. Once again the very much looked forward show is almost here. I shall be going on the 14th. If any doll makers or blogging friends are coming do drop a line may be we could say hello to each other. I am also booked into 2 workshops. I did it early this time as I found all the good classes went very quickly as soon as the dates were announced. There are still some classes left so if you want to book up something do it now. You can do it on line here http://www.twistedthread.com/
I hope there will be many doll makers from UK coming as Ray Slater has organised a
Cloth doll exhibition. I am really excited about this because we will get to see dolls by UK doll artists. I know some of the artists works I have never seen, so it is going to be great forum for exposure of these artists and cloth dolls in general.
Lets hope it will take off in great style. If any of you from UK are around in London it is worth a visit as there are other great textile arts and artists and tons of stuff to purchase too. So come with a loaded purse LOL!
The same event takes place in Harrogate in November so those in and around Harrogate should make an attempt to go there. You won't be disappointed.
Ha! I think I have done my bit of advertising LOL!not affliated in any way just like to tell anyone interested in any sort of textile art it is something not to be missed. I am really thrilled about the exhibition.
